Truth: The Pathway to a Pure Heart

In today’s world there is a philosophy that says whatever is true for you is true for you and whatever is true for me is true for me. This statement in and of itself is false. What is true for one must be true for all because truth is not relative. Truth is not defined by one’s belief. Many in our society who follow the idea that truth is relative would say something like, “you might consider that to be the truth, but I don’t believe it, therefore, it is not truth to me.” There is so much deception in this line of thinking. The result is that people begin to live their lives based on their feelings and thoughts rather than truth.

The fact of the matter is that truth is not relative. The Psalmist said “Teach me your ways O Lord, that I may live according to your truth! Grant me purity of heart, so that I may honor you” (Ps. 86:11, NLT).

David understood three things about truth that we must learn as well.

1. Truth for life must come from God. God knows everything about us. He knows our circumstances, our heartaches and the critical decisions that we face. The only way to effectively navigate life is by the truth that comes from our Creator.

2. We must live our lives according to His truth. Once we know the truth that comes from God, we must live our lives accordingly. The world has a lot of ideas about how we should live our  lives. The deception that comes from the enemy is that “I will never be able to live up to God’s standard.” Transformation is a process. Take one day at a time and do what you know to do today.

3. Truth from God that is applied to our lives results in a pure heart and God is honored. You see, the problem with the world’s philosophy is that it contaminates the heart! The only avenue to a heart of  purity (integrity and wholeness) is the truth that comes from God.

Don’t allow the world to contaminate your heart any longer. Pursue God’s word and live according to His truth! Start today!

Galileo said “All truths are easy to understand once they are discovered; the point is to discover them.”

Please feel free to share your thoughts on truth.
