Hidden Doors in the Heart!

Do you ever get discouraged with trying to do what is right? Do you ever say to yourself, “what’s the use? It doesn’t matter how hard I try, I just can’t get it right.” You know what you need to do, but it never seems to work for you; so you try harder. Frustration begins to set in so you begin looking for answers. You talk to friends or family members that you trust hoping that they can give you some counsel or new information that will help you. Maybe you even go see the pastor who helps you gain new insights into your situation. For a while, things seem to be going well and then you find yourself back in the same rut. Why is this? Why do I find myself on the slippery slope continuing to struggle? How can I find out what I need to know to make this cycle go away?

The problem for you and I in these situations is that we are looking in the wrong place for our solution. The answer to why we continue going around the same mountain is not found in knowledge, but in the heart. Repeated behaviors that are sinful, shameful, and unwanted are matters of the heart.

There are what I call hidden doors of the heart that lead to dark rooms where unresolved issues are kept. We have locked those doors and we are afraid of what might happen if we open them. The natural tendency is to believe that if I open that door, pain and suffering is inevitable. That might very well be true, however, that is not the end result. The only way to free ourselves is to open the doors and allow the light of Christ to enter in and overtake the darkness. His love will reveal and heal those things hidden in darkness behind the doors in our hearts. Scripture says:

Luke 1:78-79 (NLT)
78 Because of God’s tender mercy, the morning light from heaven is about to break upon us,
79 to give light to those who sit in darkness and in the shadow of death, and to guide us to the path of peace.”

His light shining in our hearts will guide us in the path of peace. The result will be a life that is joyful and filled with purpose. God has a plan for your life that is beyond the mountain that you keep going around. Open the door of your heart that contains the issue you are dealing with and allow His light to overtake the darkness. REACH FORWARD for God’s best in your life today. Allow Him to fill you with His light. He will not let you down. Trust Him!
